🐴 Pikachu — The Joyful Little Heart of the Herd

How He Joined Us

Pikachu — estimated to be around 12 years old — came to us when we were searching for a companion for Duna.
He stood alone behind a fence on a quiet piece of land,
not mistreated, not neglected,
simply left behind in a situation that didn’t suit a young, social pony.

The people caring for him had taken him in after a farmer sold all his horses.
They wanted to rehome the entire group,
but no one wanted Pika.
He was “too small,”
too insignificant in the eyes of buyers.
And so he ended up alone once more.

When we went to see him, we instantly recognised the people from a past encounter —
and everything fell into place.
Pikachu needed a herd again.
Duna needed a friend.
And our home needed his light.

The decision was easy:
Pika came home with us.

🌿 Settling In

From the first moment, he and Duna formed an instant bond.
Two gentle souls, suddenly no longer alone.
They became inseparable —
a peaceful, balanced pair that brought calmness to the finca.

And then Gitana arrived.

That’s when Pika’s heart made a very clear choice.
He fell completely in love with her.
Now he follows Gitana everywhere —
grooming her, standing beside her,
and keeping watch over her like the most loyal little guardian.

If Gitana wanders too far,
Pika calls for her.
If she doesn’t respond,
he runs straight to her side.
A tiny pony with a giant devotion.

💛 Who Pikachu Is

Pika is the connector of our small herd —
a bright, social little gelding who brings everyone together.

He:

  • shares his hay with the sheep

  • adapts instantly to new horses (even welcoming Raina)

  • builds bonds effortlessly

  • brings joy, softness, and harmony everywhere he goes

But beneath his sweetness
lives a wonderfully cheeky personality.

Electric fence line?
More of a suggestion than a rule.

If a horse is taken out of the paddock,
he seizes the opportunity,
trots through the opening,
and runs to the nearest irresistible patch of grass —
living his best little adventure.

He has a strong will,
a playful nibble,
and a sparkle in his eye
that tells you he knows exactly what he’s doing.

🌈 His Life Today

Pikachu may be small,
but he fills the rescue with warmth, connection, and laughter.

He loves deeply.
He bonds fiercely.
He holds the group together in his own unique way.

Here, he is not the “pony nobody wanted.”
Here, he is cherished, included, and adored.
He is a friend, a companion,
and the joyful heartbeat of our little herd.

Pikachu is home —
and he helps everyone else feel home, too.
