🐴 Duna — A Gentle Spirit Given a New Beginning

✨ Her Story

Duna did not come from cruelty.
She came from love —
but a love that could no longer give her what she needed.

Her former owner cared deeply for her.
He had ridden western with her,
shared years of companionship,
and held a genuine bond with her.
But as he grew older, his body simply couldn’t keep up anymore.
He could not ride, work with her,
or give her the activity and interaction a horse needs.

He couldn’t bear to part with her —
so she stayed.
Not neglected,
but lonely.
Living in a small paddock, waiting for days that all felt the same.

When I began looking for a horse in need,
our intermediary knew Duna would be safe with us.
She explained to the owner where she would go,
and how she would be cared for with love and dignity.

He agreed to let her go —
not because he stopped loving her,
but because he loved her enough to give her a better life.

🌿 Arriving Home

When Duna stepped off the trailer,
she didn’t walk into a herd —
because there wasn’t one yet.
She arrived to quiet land, two sheep, and two humans ready to care for her.

For the first week,
she was the only horse here.
She watched the sheep with curiosity,
followed us with her gentle eyes,
and slowly took in the new sounds, smells, and freedom around her.

And then, one week later, Pikachu arrived —
a small, bright spark of energy
that instantly changed her world.

Duna went from being alone
to having her first real companion
in a very long time.

💛 Who She Is Now

Duna is soft, observant, and incredibly sweet.
She has a calm presence that fills the space around her without ever demanding attention.

She loves:
